Spotify Private Mode

To be engaged when listening to stuff you want no one else to know you listen to, ie Kate Nash, 30 Seconds To Mars, Girls Aloud.

Not that I listen to that kinda stuff. Obviously.

tumblrbot asked: WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?

Food, drink, music, girlfriend. Any separately, but all at once is better.

Exercise, weight, I’m a fat, lazy knacker.

Started a new workout plan last night. Finished the 9 week EA Sports Fitness plan and lost a chunk of weight and gained some muscle but definitely tailed off towards the end. I was slightly frustrated by a lack of new exercises by the final stages so I think some boredom crept in.

The new plan seems to be loosely based around P90X. Seems to be a nice stop off before doing to real thing. Did the first exercise last night, Chest & Back, and I’m definitely a bit sore. The good kind of sore though.

I took some pics last night for a ‘day 1’ style post but I think I’ll keep it back to the end for a comparison pic. Not sure Tumblr needs any more pictures of half naked, slightly overweight guys.

General frustrations re KONY 2012

(This is really being written for Haroon and Sophie who were on the end of my frustrated tweets last night)

My problem with the campaign isn’t necessarily down to the goals, and in fact I think that anything that get any young people involved in political discussion is a great thing. Barrow is a town that wallows in apathy, the fact that over 350 people have joined the KONY 2012 Barrow Cover The Night group stuns me. Admittedly, a good chunk of them will be bandwagon jumping tossers or the people who just accept any shite that comes their way on Facebook, but if we say that 50-100 of them now are excited by social causes then it can only be good news.

My issue with this whole thing is that it’s far too easy for the “YouTube generation” to to watch a flashy, well produced video and believe that what they’ve seen is the absolute truth when really it’s no more than glorified spam. People wouldn’t believe an email from Nigeria that asked for a money to help their long lost uncle, yet for some reason they watch a 29 minute video and instantly believe that ‘stopping Kony’ will solve the problems in an area that’s more complex than most people can imagine.

Our generation has minute attention spans, that’s why 2 days ago everyone was talking about Kony, today it’s quietened down dramatically and by the weekend they’ll be more interested in whatever inane bollocks Kim Kardashian is tweeting about. They’ve seen this video and now think that this one guy is the embodiment of evil within Uganda, casually ignoring the fact the the social and political problems in Africa run considerably deeper and will obviously take more than arresting one guy who may or may not even be alive. The Ugandan military are well known for their rapes and killings, the Government is hopelessly corrupt and let’s not forget that they advocate the murder of homosexuals, but hey, Rihanna told us to stop this guy so that must solve it all, right? She’s an expert on this stuff.
