&lt;p&gt;A combination of stopping my &lt;a href="http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml"&gt;Couch to 5K plan&lt;/a&gt;, my girlfriend’s mum’s lovely home cooking and being blissfully happy has led to a sneaking increase in my weight. I’ve not really noticed the weight but I have realised that over the last few weeks in particular I’m feeling more lethargic.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I’ve avoided the scales. Every time I walk in the bathroom or get out the shower I can see them sat in the corner, taunting me. This morning I could take it no longer and decided to find out the extent of my expected weight gain. Surely just a couple of pounds, yeah?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I’m not telling you what the weight was, rest assured it is heavier than I can remember being.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Serious steps need taking.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Calorie counting starts today. I’m a snacker, I quite happily grab a bag of crisps and a chocolate bar and munch away, need to pack that in straight away. Want to know how many calories are in a Double Decker? A fuckload, let me tell you.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Diet needs to be sorted. Lean meats, wholegrains, fish. Not pizza, kebabs, burgers. Got to start eating breakfast! I’ve avoided it since leaving school because it makes me feel a little sick but I’ve just got to bear it. Breakfast kick starts the metabolism.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Back on the running plan, starting tomorrow. No, that’s not me delaying it. It makes more sense when I’m doing 4 runs a week that my ‘running week’ starts on a Monday. It’ll be Couch to 5k again because I feel that’s a measurable method and isn’t overwhelming.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I’ve just bought some weights. Yes, hilarious I know but I need to mix up the cardio and weights to keep it coming off and hopefully build some muscle. A 5x5 routine of 6 different compound exercises, split 3 a week will do exactly what I need.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Half a stone off before Christmas.&lt;/p&gt;
